This is wild. Some dude wrote a manifesto about sausage. It seems he’s pissed off about some links or something.

Actually, the issue was pay-per-click fraud. I don’t get the deal about the sausage though.

Well, he’s had quite a bit of feedback, including an endorsement from Jim Hedger at SiteProNews.

SiteProNews is a part of the Jayde Network. Jayde is the parent company of several big players on the Net, including GoArticles and Exactseek. SiteProNews is the leading website for webmasters seeking the latest news on search strategies. Their articles are top of the line and can’t be beat. Some of the best SEOs in the industry get published there. Getting their endorsement is nothing to shake a stick at. The sausage man, Jeffrey Rohrs, should be honored.

Then there’s the Bratwurst guy. He wasn’t so complimentary. His response to Rohrs was more on the side of, say, Stephen Colbert at the 2006 White House Correspondents Association dinner. Maybe that’s why I liked it.

Here’s what Ronin (Mr. Bratwurst) has to say about pay-per-click fraud:

As far the conversation - ASM’s post is saying “suck it up” fraud is a cost of doing business, and I have to agree. There was a speaker at SES Chicago and I’ll have to dig through my notes to find her name, but she had a great point - the problem is not click fraud, it’s click crap - the clicks from the wrong people that your creative is bringing in that are not really leads. My gut is that’s where the real savings are to be generated.

There are, of course, people who feel that way. But there are others who are just plain ticked off at the search engines for not arresting people. “Let’s clamor ‘em!” they seem to be saying, and Jeffrey Rohrs is leading the pack. Frankly, I don’t know what putting people in jail is going to do to solve the problem. Click fraud is a problem, there’s no doubt. But liquor stores get robbed too and they arrest people for that crime. Of course, liquor store owners have insurance - hey! Now that’s an idea. Why don’t you guys just go in and buy some click fraud insurance and that way if you lose money due to your enemies depleting your bank accounts then you can get a nice little pay-out to use for more advertising. Hmmm … What say you about that?
